Wood Protection*Avoid silicone and wax polishes*
It is generally recommended to dust wood furniture frequently. Using a quality polish about once or twice a month will maintain its look. A lint-free cloth should be used for cleaning and polishing. Humidity in the room should be kept at a normal level. There should not be any extremes, as these may cause the wood to warp. Try to avoid placing furniture in direct sunlight.
Cloth runners, pads, or mats should be used to protect the surface from decoration pieces, beverages, and hot dishes. Do not drag items across the surface of your piece.
Windex or a similar product can also be used to clean the surface of your veneer furniture. This type of cleaner will not harm the finish and does not leave a residue. Apply cleaner to the surface and wipe in the direction of the wood grain. Wipe dry with a clean, lint free cotton cloth. Always try to use a professional cleaner, and try to avoid using pledge.
Do not place sharp objects on any leather piece, and try to avoid placing in direct sunlight. When cleaning, do not rub. Sponge gently until stains are no longer visible. Water based spills may require a professional leather cleaner. For oil based spills, wipe clean with a dry cloth. Allow stain to then dissipate into the leather. Do not use anything else on a oil based spill.
Place at least two feet away from heat sources. Generally try to keep free of dust by dusting once a week. It is generally recommended to test cleaning products in a hidden area of the furniture to see if it is compatible with the leather. Again, always try to use a professional cleaner.
Cleaning methods are usually found on a tag at the bottom of the furniture. They are as follows:
W- Spot clean with water-based cleaner
X- Clean only by vacuuming or light brushing
S- Spot clean only with mild water-free solvent cleaner
WS- Spot clean with water-based or solvent cleaner (small amount of dish soap and water)
Rearrange cushions frequently to ensure even use. Be cautions when wearing clothing that sheds dye (ex. New blue jeans). It is important to clean immediately after a spill occurs. Pre-test your cleaner in a hidden area to make sure it does not damage the piece. Blot, don’t rub. It is recommended to quickly dry with a fan, as to avoid ringing.
Vacuum often, and do not place in direct sunlight, as this can cause the dye to fade. The dye can also eventually fade due to impurities in the air.
